This chapter opens on a satellite base in the middle of the night. It's just after midnight. Everyone's fine, except for the ship's pilot, who's not feeling well. He's worried about what's going to happen to Sidonia, since the ship just collided with a nearby satellite. Sidonia has been taken to a standard-tank, and the crew is waiting to see if she regains consciousness. They've also updated the pilot's combat rations, since Sidonia hasn't been eating all that well lately. The pilot brings a special katana made out of leftover synthetic cloth, which they're using to fight outside of the unit. The crew is impressed with how fast Sidonia's walker is going.
