About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a soliloquy by Henry, in which he compares himself to a "lingy" . He says that he is proud and independent, and that his swordplay is "the likes of which only once in the millenium" is seen. He asks Henry why he hasn't been fighting more seriously, and asks him if he remembers the night they first met in Hong Kong. The name he used was "qing" , which means "long wei" in Chinese, and he says he didn't know what it meant to love or to be loved, nor did he know how to taste defeat. He used men as "playthings and treats" and lived a "freeroaming life" among the black community. He tells Henry that the secret society that he belonged to was trying to expand into Asia. Henry says he was without a trump card, so he was able to defeat the society without a single blow. He explains that he was defeated because he was arrogant and prided, which is why he never allowed himself to use his hidden weapon, the tri-level simultaneous attack. The author notes that this technique is dangerous, so do not try it at home
