About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a description of a duel between a sword and a gun. In this case, it's between a man and a woman. The narrator explains that in a duel, the man must be able to detect his opponent's "rising bloodlust" before the bullet is fired. In other words, he has to shoot at the enemy before he can kill him. He can't even get close enough to stop the man from killing him, because the man momentarily loses his balance. He's worried that if he lets the man go, he'll never get back to the man who killed him. In fact, if the man hadn't killed him, he would have killed the man waiting for him at the end of the chapter. He tells us that the next day is the day of the moon, which means that we've seen it already. This chapter also discusses the "akashic records," a mystical recording device that records all the information of the universe since the inception of our universe. It's like a "state vector" that's been "collapsing" on itself. The author then
