About This Chapter
This chapter opens with a flashback to the beginning of the previous chapter, in which Yonchs tells the audience that he has been beaten down again. He says that he does not want to continue fighting because he has other duties, and that his wife is a mystery to him. He wonders if she is the one who founded the nursery society, and wonders if he has ever heard of war. He also wonders if the woman who helped him escape from the prison is the same woman who founded that society. He then launches into a series of attacks on her, which he calls "buffalo flurry of attacks" . He realizes that she is still on the battlefield, and he wonders how she can stay on when he has spent so much time on the gun. He tells us that he taught bagua-zhang to a man who founded a mastade, and this woman might even be able to hold her own in close combat. He explains that the zott, a mock war, is a way for the major powers to display their power. The winning team loses the commonwealth prize, which is awarded to the best team in the world. The team that wins the tournament will live in peace, and the children will not have to live in fear of the enemy.
