The next morning, the Green-Flag Point Team gloats over the number of flags they've picked up during the previous day's battle. They're talking about how many enemy soldiers have been killed, but they don't mention how many children have been lost in the battle. This is the same sort of thing that happened to the children in Gericaud's platoon the day before. The point is that, even if they get all of the flags, the battle will go on for two weeks, and no one will be able to stop it.
