In this chapter, the narrator continues his story of how he came to realize that the girl was his friend. He tells her that she was his first friend at the orphanage and that the days she spent with him were the happiest days of her life. He explains that the orphanage sent the naughty children to the isolation room so that they would not be bullied. One day, however, he discovered that the boy in the room was actually his own son. The orphanage's kidnapper tricked the principal into believing that the child was his own, and the kidnapper continued beating the boy.
