About This Chapter
In this chapter, we are introduced to the "highness" of the narrator, who is in the middle of a soliloquy in which he laments the fact that he cannot see the battle raging around him. He also laments that he has been born a "virtuous fellow" and that his highness has made him a virtuous man. The narrator then goes on to lament that the parscians have refused to let them through to the peshawar, which is the main fortress of the Parsian Empire. He worries that they will kill them if they continue to chase them. He is certain that they have not fallen into the hands of the enemy.
