"Hotaru's Way" is the title of the chapter, which opens with a description of the scene that takes place in Hiroshi's house. Hiroshi and hotaru are out for a walk, and Hiroshi asks hotaru what's wrong with him. Hotaru tells him that he's been drinking too much and that he doesn't like the way things are going at work. He tells him to get out of the house, because he'll be back soon. He also tells him about how he used to be in love with another man, and how he has had a heart ache ever since. He's going to wait for the "rough draft" of a cigar, he tells Hiroshi. He asks Hiroshi if he wants to apologize to him, and he says he does. He then asks if Hiroshi is planning to run away from his wife forever. He says that he saw all of her color drain from her face, and that's enough to make him kick his ass. He wants to know why he can't apologize to her, and why he wouldn't show her around the house.
