In this final entry of the diary, sumino tells us that everyone in his class has come together to celebrate his birthday. He also writes that he has received a letter from sumino telling him all about him, and that he should not try to change it. He says that even though he is weak by himself, he is still able to get stronger when he has people around him to support him. He hopes that he will be able to walk to school with her, and he says that he would like to do so, but he knows that she has a lot to worry about. He tells her that they will try to find a way to make the base of the sunflower so that they can cut it and use it as a base. He asks her if she thinks it will blossom, and she says that she does not think it will, but that she hopes it will stay strong. She tells him to go get some water, because she knows that he is trying to force her to make a decision. She says that if she lets him finish, then she will have to give it up.
