In this chapter, we are introduced to a new character, a young woman named Lin-ying, who has just returned from a night out with her sister, who is also a student at the same college. Lin asks her sister if she has any advice for her friend, whom she has just met in class. She tells Lin that she is trying to cheer up her friend by giving him something that he likes. Lin is shocked to learn that Lin has an 80 percent chance of having a nightmare, and that Lin is only having a 40 percent nightmare chance. Lin tells her sister that she has the worst luck, because she has not had a good meal for a long time. Lin says that she was close to eating Lin's dream, but she failed to do so. Lin then asks if her friend is thinking of giving her a gift, and Lin replies that she thinks it would cheer her up. Lin also tells her that her friend has figured out that he cares for her, which makes her feel better. Lin wants to know how Lin can cheer up his friend, so Lin suggests that they have a sleepover together, which Lin says would look like a "pervert"
