About This Chapter
When the narrator arrives at the jail, he is shocked to find that his father has locked him up. He asks the jailer why he has agreed to take his blame for the crime. The jailer tells him that he has never seen anyone so unpredictable as him before. The narrator asks why he is willing to sacrifice everything he has to agree to this request at the risk of being declared a guilty party. He says that even if he were given a chance, he would still choose the same choice. He then asks why they have been having sex for six years. He also wants to know why he did not tell him six years ago when he first confronted him. He recalls that when he confronted him, he laughed and said that he could not afford to play with him. Now, he says, he realizes that he got close to him with an "impure purpose" . But over time, he has become more important to him, and he is not used to being without him. Finally, he asks if they can just "be like before?" He asks whether they are not treating each other well enough. He tells them that he likes them both, and yet he still wants to watch them switch partners. He promises to never touch anyone.
