It's been a while since the two of them met, but now they're ready to get to know each other. They're both in the kitchen making dinner for a friend of theirs, who's coming over to check out the food they've just made. The guy is a bit arrogant, and the narrator doesn't like it. He's not into the rich scene, and he's also not into being the center of attention. He wants to be the focus of everyone's attention, but he can't attract the attention of the rich guy. The narrator says that he once wished that he could marry a rich guy, and that he'd sacrificed a lot of money for his family in order to do so. But now, he says, he'll have to work hard to earn his way into the middle of the social ladder. He plans to teach his brother, Jason, how to "chase a girl" in advance.
