The narrator tells us that Madame Bovary was deeply frightened when she returned from her previous life because she did not want to have any children. She was afraid that those who did not care for her would harm her child in her stomach. She thought of abortion, but after a weekend, she still did not feel better. The narrator also tells us about the changes in the life of Madame Moshe, from paying her wedding money to paying the public opinion. Madame MoShe is not sure if she is being treated sincerely in this new life or if it is another trap. She will know when she gets there.
