In this short scene, the Underground Man explains that he and his men are 19 kilometers away from the ship, and that they have only five minutes before it is too late. He suggests that they use a "powered train" to get to the ship. The Underground Man points out that the train can go up to 600 miles per hour, which is about as fast as a car can go. He then explains how the tunnel can be used to achieve this speed. He compares the tunnel to a "hero blockbuster movie" and says that using the forward and downward forces of the train, the tunnel wall can be transformed into a "spiral forward power" .
