About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a soliloquy by the monster, in which he tells the audience that he has come to "save us." He tells them that they are to bear the burden of his coming, and that they must not allow him to bring any more suffering upon them. He tells the women that they should follow his orders and kill as many bodies as they can. He also tells the men to wait until the next day to brew the "essence" of the beast. He says that the women will "debase themselves selves" by smelling the essence, and they will cling to anyone they see. The effect lasts for three days, and the only reason they returned to the "hell hell" alive is because they lost their "cosciousness." The monster says that he heard his father say that perhaps they should reconsider burning the beast's essence, because the smell will make women cling to men they see and do whatever they want. The monster concludes that the only harm they can do is to "see what becomes of the oyura."
