About This Chapter
The narrator tells us that he's going to find out who's behind the abduction of the innocent girls. He's sure that the priest, takuan, is behind it, because he'll be watching the girls' heads one by one as they're abducted. The narrator says that he knows that if they don't stop the girls from being abducted, they'll have no choice but to kill them. He tells the narrator that he can't just sit idly by and watch the girls being abducted. He has to take action, he says. He wants to go and save the girls, even if it means that they have to kill him. He asks the narrator to keep a secret from the seven ashina men, so that they won't be able to poison him and tell the shogun that he died of an illness. He also wants to know what's up with Dohaku's mysterious hiding place.
