About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a flashback to a time when a master was revered as a "god with the sword" . The master was disguised as a priest and went to a store where a bandit had been holed up and taken a hostage. When the bandit reached for the priest's rice balls, the master leapt out of the store and captured the bandit in a single swift move. The chapter then turns to the idea of using sexual wiles to defeat an enemy. It is explained that if one puts one's mind in the actions of his opponent, his mind is taken by the body of the opponent. If one puts his own mind in his intention to not be struck, his own intention will not be taken. If he puts his thoughts in his thoughts of how to get the women he will get to release him, he will be taken with the thoughts of "buzz bee" and "squeezing buzz." The chapter ends with a description of a bee flying by. The old master tells the chapter that a messenger has just arrived from a lady named Tenjuin with an invitation for tea. The messenger is asking the old master to go to the gate of the flower pit where he was required to live during the shogun's year in the upper floor of the edo castle, but he has decided to stay there pretending to be sick.
