About This Chapter
"Sherdog's Back" The narrator tells us that sherlock hasn't eaten his dog food in a while. Sherlock is acting like he's back to normal. He's even sneezed, which is unusual, since he usually doesn't sneeze. The narrator wonders what's wrong with the dog, since it's been raised in a police station. He wonders if the dog has a cold, and wonders if he wishes he could be a normal dog again. He also wonders if it was the police dog who threw him at the wall when he realized that the dog was his sister's lover. The dog wonders if maybe the mayor threw him down because he sensed that something was wrong with him. The mayor, he says, is the only person who knows about the dog's identity, and the more people learn about it, the more likely it is that she'll kill the dog. He says that if they screw it up, the mayor won't tell them what to do if they don't do it, and that's the only way they'll be able to keep the dog alive.
