About This Chapter
"My first love," the narrator tells us, "is just a number" . He tells us that his first love is ichimura, and that she is doing well. He asks her why she hasn't contacted him yet, and she tells him that she's been enjoying her vacation with her friend . She also tells the narrator that the people in the town are "a pain in the asses" , and asks him if he'd like to go for a walk with her. The narrator says he'll do it, and then asks the girl if she'd be willing to wait for him. The girl says she'll wait, and the narrator says that she doesn't want to wait, because the people don't like to be left out, and they're not used to being left out. She tells the girl that she has a friend from the town, and he's "quiet and gentle" and even has his own oven. He's a "really nice guy," the girl says, and it's hard for her to believe that someone her age could live in such a small town. She says that the town festival season is coming up soon, so she hopes people like him will come out and liven things up. She's not sure what's going on, but the girl is sure that the man won't be interested in her anyway.
