About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn that the vampire is a "pure blooded vampire" , and that he is in love with a human boy. The boy is named Rise, and he is a half-blood, half-human. He has a "smile on purpose" and a "jerky jolt on purpose," which is why he is so attracted to the boy. He tells the boy that he has come to find him because he is worried about him, but he has also found the boy making out with another man. The two men seem to be closer than they first thought, and Rise says that he still feels dizzy because he has not yet been treated, so he can heal him. He asks the boy if he can help him, and the boy replies that he can, but that he does not want to see the boy with anyone else. He says that if the boy needs a partner, he will be that person. He adds that he was once like the boy, but now that the sun has gone down, he wants to spend time with the boy alone. He wants to be alone with him, because his powers are "weak" and he prefers to spend "time alone with mr. luther" . When the boy asks if he is sick, the boy says he is. He also feels jealous when the boy's affections are directed elsewhere, and so he wanted to make sure that he did not lose his affections. He gives the boy the medicine that strengthens the vampire's blood, and says that it is okay to give the boy this medicine, because it strengthens his vampire blood. He then says that the boy should kiss him if all he wants is "meaningless affection without any
