In this chapter, we are introduced to bamwoo, a young man who has just returned from a trip to the seashore. He is in the middle of a shower when he is interrupted by the sound of a girl's voice, who asks him to wash her off. The girl tells him that she is afraid to wash herself because she does not want to be seen. The boy, however, is not afraid of the girl, and asks her to wash him off so that he can see her. When the girl refuses, the boy asks her if she would be willing to marry him if he had a ring on his finger. She says that she would not, but that she will not say no if he proposes without a ring.
