Everyone in the school has been poisoned, and some have lost consciousness. Someone has reported this to the emperor and they should send an official to investigate. Duke Senior asks the fourth young lady what happened the night before, and she tells him that she went to school for the same reason. He tells her that the misterious man helped her, but that he must not be someone sent by the second prince or the crown prince, because he must have had his own purpose. He also tells her to be careful, because the prince will wonder if she is planning anything, and that he will probably not make any moves on them for now. The duke tells the fourth girl that he would like to know how she ended up getting entrapped with the prince. The fourth girl tells her father that a representative from the prince is in the lobby, and the duke asks her why she is asking him. He says that the prince sent the representative to deliver an invitation to the duke's house, but the invitation mentions only the duke and his father, and does not mention the gift of the prince's representative. He wonders if the prince purposely showed favor to Duke Senior in order to get over his ducal mansion, but he tells her not to worry, because they will protect her.
