In this chapter, we're introduced to a new character, the prince of the palace. He's a nine-year-old boy who's been living in the palace since childhood. We're told that he's the most popular prince among the palace's other young men. The prince is called "Hill augustine" , and he is the illegitimate son of Duke Senior. He is bullied because of it, but he chooses the prince because he loves him so much. This is the first time we've seen the prince in action, and it's clear that he wants to be king.
