About This Chapter
The narrator's parents are a loving couple, according to her grandmother. They took great care of her when she gave birth to her son. The narrator feels uncomfortable about their visit to the hospital because they looked like they were in love with each other. He wonders if they should have had a baby too. He asks his mother if she still feels uncomfortable. She replies that she is completely well and that she would never have expected that they would come to pick him up at the hospital. He then asks her where she would like to celebrate her birthday this year. She tells him that she wants to visit the observatory, the national library, or the national history museum. She then asks him to go to a haunted house. He says that he is afraid of ghosts because the author who wrote the novel collapsed because he couldn't complete the draft. He tells her that she can see all of the city. She asks him if he knows about the curses of the Ferris wheel and the curse of kissing. She says that if she kisses him, he will be with her forever. He replies that he would prefer to jump from here to there.
