About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn that the only person left in the class is "the only one left" , and that he's the only one who can actually do the homework that someone else has been doing. He's also the one who ripped up the homework of another student because he doesn't want the other student to get into trouble for doing so. This is the "benevolence" of a bad student, says the teacher, and it's obvious that this is the teacher's way of punishing the student for doing something wrong. The teacher then goes on to say that the other students are responsible for copying homework, too, since they're the ones who are supposed to be doing the copying. He also says that he tore up wang's homework because he wanted to make sure that he didn't get into any trouble for it. This, of course, is the way the teacher always treats students, and he says that wang should be more serious about his studies, since he is very smart. He adds that he has mastered the "calculatied attacks" for the "strongest" . He says that if wang studies harder, the stronger he will be. This makes the teacher even more excited, because he knows that he can use this to improve his grades by playing the game of math. He tells the teacher that his mom has stopped giving him pocket money, which is why he can't compete with the other boys in class. This was his escape plan all
