In this chapter, we learn that Caixin's daughter, Ming-Ging, has run off into the mountains, and that her mother has called for Caixin to come find her. Caixin is furious, and tells his daughter's mother that he'll find her daughter and take care of her. He tells her that he can beat her daughter, even if she doesn't come, because he's her biological child. He says that he beat her because she asked him to, and not because she's a bad mother.
